A MUSSELBURGH man who admitted struggling with a woman at a music school car park has been jailed.

Barry Rutherford, described as a prisoner of HMP Addiewell, shouted, swore and struggled with Zoe Reilly during an altercation at St Mary’s Music School, in Edinburgh.

Rutherford also kicked a vehicle during the confrontation in the school’s car park on June 3 last year.

The 27-year-old accused appeared in the dock from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday.

Sheriff Donald Corke heard Rutherford pled guilty to an amended charge and that the Crown were accepting his not guilty plea to a charge of assaulting the woman by grabbing her by the neck and punching her to the head.

Due to Rutherford’s previous criminal record the sheriff sentenced him to serve 81 days in jail.

Rutherford admitted an amended charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and struggling with Zoe Reilly at St Mary’s Music School car park, Edinburgh, on June 3 last year.
