BOXING star Josh Taylor returns to his home town of Prestonpans on Friday for the weigh-in ahead of his WBC Silver super lightweight title defence against Miguel Vazquez this weekend.

The Tartan Tornado will weigh in at the town’s community centre before the biggest fight of his career against the Mexican former world champion at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston on Saturday evening.

Up to 600 people will be able to cram into the county venue to catch a glimpse of Taylor, 26, and Vazquez as they meet for the final time before the big fight.

Locals are encouraged to turn out in big numbers to show their support for the former Preston Lodge High School pupil.

Local ward councillor and boxing fan Lachlan Bruce said: “To have a world-class athlete come out of Prestonpans is incredible and for him to bring a bit of the glamour of a title fight to Prestonpans is really good of him and his team.”

The weigh-in starts from 1pm.
