A MAN cleared of attacking his partner with a knife in Longniddry has been detained in hospital.

Kevin Harrison was alleged to have attacked a woman with a knife at a cottage on the village’s Main Street in June.

Harrison, 35, was also alleged to have attempted to stab the woman’s cat and to have thrown a lit candle onto a sofa during the alleged incident.

But the Crown accepted Harrison’s not guilty pleas to the charges when he appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday.

The court imposed an Interim Compulsion Order, resulting in Harrison being detained at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.

Harrison had not guilty pleas accepted to two offences involving a knife and striking the woman on the body to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement at Main Street, Longniddry, on June 23.
