A MAN has appeared in court accused of attempted murder following an alleged incident on a country road near to Gifford.

James Young, from Edinburgh, appeared in private on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Monday, where he faced a series of charges.

Young, 30, is charged with assault to injury and attempted murder, assault to severe injury, attempting to pervert the course of justice and and an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2006.

He is also facing two charges under the Road Traffic Act 1988 following the alleged incident on Saturday, October 28, near to Nunraw Abbey.

Young made no plea and was fully committed and remanded in custody pending his next court appearance.
