STAFF from day centres in Prestonpans and also Cockenzie and Port Seton have undergone training in dementia care.
Fiona Mitchell, Harlawhill Day Centre manager, Prestonpans, undertook the training after attending a course on best practice in dementia care at the University of Stirling.
The training involved staff meeting for monthly sessions over a period of six months and carrying out additional work at home.
Harlawhill staff were joined in the credited training course by staff from the John Bellany Centre, Cockenzie and Port Seton. The work will help them support people with dementia at their centres.
Fiona said: “Dementia and Alzheimer’s is growing and it is so important staff have a great understanding.
“I was very proud of the staff teams.”
