A MEMORIAL bench and planter to commemorate the life of a well-respected Prestonpans resident and community councillor has been unveiled at the local health centre.

Margaret Kay had been a patient at the medical practice all her life and made significant contributions to the community in many ways, including as a long-standing member of Prestonpans Community Council, including as treasurer.

Her positive attitude, kindness and consideration for everyone she met never wavered despite her declining health and she left a donation to the health centre which was used to purchase a bench and planter in her memory after she passed away earlier this year.

Members of Musselburgh Men’s Shed were enlisted to help with the project after Dr Anna Beedel raised the idea of a memorial for Margaret.

The men’s shed, run by STRiVE Wellbeing, gives men the chance to socialise and benefit their community using their skills and experience.
