A DRIVER was lucky to escape serious injury this morning after their car ended up in a 6ft-deep drainage ditch following a two-car collision near a Haddington petrol station.
Emergency services were called out to the old A1 near Bypass Service Station.
Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service were in attendance at about 7.55am on the A199 at the junction with Dunbar Road, in Haddington.
The incident involved a Honda Jazz and a Volkswagen Jetta.
A spokesman for Police Scotland told the Courier that one person was “checked over” by the ambulance service after the Jazz ended up in the ditch outside Henderson Grass Machinery.
The A199 was partially closed westbound between the junction with Dunbar Road and the Abbotsview Roundabout.
