POLICE have charged a 12-year-old boy following a fire at Dunbar Grammar School.
The incident took place on Summerfield Road at about 9.20am on Tuesday.
Officers attended in support of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, who quickly extinguished the fire that was contained within the school.
Inspector Andy Hill, of Haddington Police Station, said: “Starting fires deliberately is an extremely dangerous act that can obviously have serious and potentially catastrophic consequences.
“Fortunately, on this occasion, the fire was put out quickly and no one was injured as a result.”
The boy will be reported to the Children’s Reporter in due course.
