A GULLANE man has been fined after admitting vandalising a police car.
Ryan Gillies, of Muirfield Gardens, repeatedly lashed out at the marked Police Scotland vehicle as it was parked up outside Prestonpans Police Station.
Gillies admitted wilfully or recklessly damaging property belonging to another by hitting the car with an unknown object on September 7 last year.
He pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on December 30 last year and sentence had been deferred for him to be of good behaviour.
Last Monday, Sheriff Donald Corke was told that Gillies still had £800 outstanding from a previous court-imposed fine but had been of good behaviour this year.
Sheriff Corke told Gillies that his “actions had been foolish and unnecessary” but acknowledged the 20-year-old had stayed out of trouble since the incident and fined him £240 in relation to the vandalism.
