THE planned new sports hall at Port Seton Centre has taken another step forward after planning permission was approved by East Lothian Council.
Concerns were raised by the council’s amenity and countryside officer over the loss of existing outdoor play areas due to the new project, which will see a £1million hall built at the back of the centre.
But a report from planning officers said they had been reassured the equipment which was currently on the proposed newbuild site would be moved to another part of King George V Park and the quality maintained.
The planning officer’s report noted the council had received no objections to the sports hall. It is hoped work will start next spring.
