A TEENAGER who suffered horrific injuries has bravely revealed her scars on national television.

Molly Young suffered burns to her leg after Emily Bowen poured One Shot drain cleaner into a viola case owned by the former Knox Academy pupil.

When Molly lifted the case, the substance then leaked out onto her right leg, which saw her suffer intense burns before she was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and onto St John’s Hospital in Livingston for treatment.

Molly appeared on ITV’s This Morning yesterday (Thursday) and discussed what had happened with hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

She described the pain as “like someone holding a blowtorch to your leg”.

Talking about the day of the incident, she said: “I came back to school from an appointment and I had music class.

“One of my friends said to me ‘oh you better go up and check your viola because I have just seen Emily in the string room’.

“So, I was like ‘let’s go and see what happened’ and I got halfway up the stairs and turned round to my friend and I had a really bad feeling and asked if they would be able to come with me.

“We went up the stairs together and as soon as we went into the room there was like an eggy sort of smell but we just made a joke about it.

“I remember looking at my viola and shrugging my shoulders and was like ‘oh there’s nothing wrong with it’.

“I took it off the shelf, like I do three times a day or whatever, and my tights just started to like disintegrate.

“I didn’t really see it, I just didn’t know that was going to happen.

“When I saw the holes in my tights, I was like ‘what’s going on?’”

Bowen was jailed for 21 months at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for the attack, which took place at the Haddington secondary school in September last year.

Molly added: “It was like someone holding a blowtorch to your leg.

“If you burn your hand on an oven or something, you can take it away, run it under the cold tap and it is fine.

“With that, I could not pull it away and it was stuck to me.

“I didn’t know what to do and I just ran out of the room to get help and it keeps burning.

“A teacher came and just like dragged me into the staff base and took my boot off and I stood in the sink.”

It is not just the physical scars, with Molly also suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since the attack.

She said: “I went back to school on the Monday, I don’t know why, I just felt like I needed to for some reason.

“Then it was not until about January or February this year that I started feeling the proper effects of PTSD.

“I could not concentrate on anything and it sounds silly but I would start just screaming for no reason.

“I didn’t know what was going on in my head and I felt really frustrated and I didn’t know how to get my frustration out.”
