AN NHS radiographer sexually assaulted three teenage schoolgirls as he moonlighted as a DJ at an 18th birthday party.

Jamie Maclennan attacked the girls – including a 15-year-old – while he span records at the birthday bash at a county miners' club.

Maclennan, 25, lured the youngest victim to an isolated toilet cubicle at the back of the stage and forced his hands down her pants.

He also tried to force the 15-year-old to perform a sex act on him.

A second girl, aged 17, was also assaulted by Maclennan during the party when he grabbed her arms and forced himself on her.

He also slapped the bottom of a third 17-year-old schoolgirl after she had asked him to play her favourite song during the dance at Macmerry Miners Club.

Maclennan, of Larbert, near Falkirk, had claimed he had consensually kissed two of the girls during the evening but denied assaulting them at the party in April last year.

But Maclennan, who has been restricted to non-clinical duties at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital following his arrest, was found guilty of all three sex assaults following a five-day trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week.

All three teenagers, who cannot be named, gave their evidence to a closed court.

But Maclennan claimed the 15-year-old girl had come on to him by “dancing provocatively” in front of him while he was on the decks and that the pair had engaged in “flirtatious banter” during the evening.

He claimed that the young teenager had “encouraged his hands” to go down her pants in the toilet cubicle.

He also admitted taking scores of selfies with the youngest girl while on stage and claimed he thought she was 17.

But prosecutor Kim Schofield said: “You took advantage of your position. You were a DJ at an 18th birthday party and you are 25.

“You lured her down a corridor on the pretence of giving her a business card. You took her into one of the toilets and stopped her from leaving.

“You forced yourself on her, you kissed her and she repeatedly tried to push you off. You put your hand down her trousers.

“She managed to get out of that room and was highly distressed.”

Maclennan claimed that he and the 15-year-old had been attracted to each other but he had not assaulted any of the three girls.

But a witness told the court she saw the 15-year-old flee back down the corridor in floods of tears following the attack while her friends partied unaware in the club’s main room.

Moran Luke, 45, said: “Later that night I saw [Maclennan] going down the corridor with another blonde girl. I then saw her coming back along the corridor and she was very upset. She was running and had tears coming down her face.

“The girl said he took her along the corridor and he had been touching her.

“She went on to say he tried to force her to carry out [a sex act].”

Following the party, all three girls made complaints to the police of being sexually assaulted by Maclennan and the 25-year-old was arrested when officers attended at the Western General Hospital the following week.

Maclennan broke down several times in the dock as he continually pleaded his innocence to the attacks but he was found guilty by a jury on two charges by a unanimous decision and the third charge of slapping a girl’s bottom by a majority.

Sheriff Thomas Welsh QC placed him on the sex offenders' register for a time still to be determined and deferred full sentence to next month.

Maclennan was found guilty of sexually assaulting three girls at Macmerry Miners Club, Macmerry, on April 16 last year.
