BEACH Wheelchairs held an afternoon tea in North Berwick last month to celebrate its second anniversary.

The charity was formed in 2015 and provides wheelchairs to allow disabled people access to the beach.

A crowd of 100 people attended the event and helped to raise £2,500, which will be used to buy another paediatric Beach Wheelchair called the Hippocampe.

A spokeswoman for the charity told the Courier: “It was a lovely celebration of Beach Wheelchairs achievements to date and was a great opportunity to share the future plans with friends and supporters.”

She also thanked everyone involved for making the day a success.

Meanwhile, the charity has also benefited from a donation from Madsurf.

The county-based company donated £140 from its Madsurf Project, where it donates £5 from hoodie sales to charities supporting children in need.

And North Berwick Bridge Club has also given its backing to Beach Wheelchairs, with a £550 cheque handed over at the club’s AGM.
