AN EAST Lothian pub has become the first in Scotland to install a bus tracker screen to make sure patrons don't miss their connection.
Customers in Mercat Grill, Whitecraig, will be able to watch for their bus on a large screen as they enjoy a drink in the bar.
The real time bus tracker system, created by South East of Scotland transport (SEStran) keeps people up to date with local services displaying when they will arrive at local stops.
Graham Blaikie, owner of the Mercat Grill said: “We’re always looking for ways to improve our customer service at our family run business and we thought having a real time, bus tracker display in our bar and restaurant was a great way to help those looking to travel by bus. And particularly for those who tend not to use the respective apps or websites on their mobiles.
“Lothian Buses runs number 40 (Eastfield to Penicuik) and 44 (Balerno to Whitecraig), which gives a lot of residents from here in East Lothian, Midlothian and Edinburgh, good access to the Mercat Grill.”
The bus tracker system was created by SEStran who believe extending real-time passenger information throughout south-east Scotland is a major step towards achieving their goal of creating a sustainable transportation system for the region.
