THERE is major disruption on the Edinburgh to North Berwick train line this morning due to flooding at Drem.

A statement on the ScotRail website said that flooding caused by yesterday's torrential rain had resulted in major disruption to the service.

As a result, all stations on the line east of Prestonpans - Longniddry, Drem and North Berwick - will not be served by trains until at least 9am.

A statement on the ScotRail website said: "Due to heavy rain flooding the railway at Drem, disruption is expected until 9am.

"Train services between Edinburgh and North Berwick will be terminated at and started back from Prestonpans. All stations between North Berwick and Prestonpans will not be served.

"Services from Edinburgh to North Berwick will terminate at Prestonpans. Services from North Berwick to Edinburgh will start at Prestonpans.

"We are arranging alternative transport between North Berwick and Prestonpans, but these are not confirmed yet. Please press the Help Points at stations between North Berwick and Prestonpans, where attempts will be made to arrange alternative transport.

"Please note journey times will be extended by the use of alternative transport.

"We are sorry that you have been delayed today. Dont forget to keep a hold of your ticket and make a claim if you have been delayed over 30 minutes by visiting scotrail.co.uk/delay-repay"

In addition, the 8.14 Edinburgh to North Berwick service will terminate at Musselburgh.
