A TWENTY-nine-year-old woman has been issued with an interim Anti-Social Behaviour Order at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The order was granted last Tuesday against Chithara Coetzee, of Dunbar’s Ashgrove, following an application from East Lothian Council.

The terms of the Interim ASBO prevent her from behaving in a way that causes or is likely to cause alarm and distress to others, specifically the residents of the street.

This includes allowing more than two visitors to her home at any one time; shouting and swearing, or allowing or encouraging anyone else to shout and swear within the property; or playing televisions and any other sound making devices excessively loud.

The court heard that complaints regarding Miss Coetzee’s behaviour dated back to July last year.

East Lothian Council’s Safer Communities Team worked closely with Police Scotland to compile the dossier of evidence that was presented to the court.

A council spokeswoman told the Courier they always took complaints about anti-social behaviour “very seriously”.

She said: “Miss Coetzee’s behaviour resulted in a number of complaints being made to both our Safer Communities Team and to Police Scotland.

“We worked closely with Police Scotland to ensure an effective response to these complaints.

“This interim ASBO underlines the fact that her behaviour is not acceptable in East Lothian and that it must change.”
