EAST Lothian could be set to bask in summer warmth this week, if forecasters are correct.

Forecasts predict that the temperature across the UK will rise steadily this week, peaking on Friday.

In East Lothian, temperatures in the high teens are expected through Wednesday and are set to break the 20C barrier on Thursday.

Temperatures in the county could even be as high as 23C on Friday.

Although there have been some showers in the county today, the outlook for the rest of the week is for plenty of sunshine, with the warm and sunny weather possibly lasting into the weekend too.

Down south, temperatures are expected to peak this week at a balmy 27C.
