A 53-year-old man has been arrested following a serious assault in a street, in Tranent, last night (Sunday).
One person is understood to have received serious injuries following an incident in Fa'side Avenue.
Police officers called to the scene reported an alleged breach of the peace in neighbouring Fa'side Crescent.
Police brought in dogs as they searched the streets around the area, shortly after 11pm last night.
The 53-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the assault and breach of the peace.
He is expected to appear in court later today.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A man has been arrested and charged following a serious assault in Fa'side Avenue and breach of the peace in Fa'side Cresent, Tranent, on Sunday April 23.
"The 53-year-old is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court."
