ROMANCE was in the air for a Musselburgh woman when her partner popped the question after delivering her engagement ring by drone at an East Lothian beauty spot.
Lori Jeromson, 24, thought she was going to watch her soldier sweetheart and keen cameraman David Louden, 29, test his studio lights at the beach at Yellowcraig, near Dirleton.
But the gadget fan had other ideas, with the thought of marriage firmly on his mind when he returned home recently after six weeks serving with the army in Kenya with 5 SCOTS.
Lori said that David took a few photos before going back to his car for a battery pack.
He tied the bag holding the engagement ring on the £1,000 drone with a ribbon and guided it on a one-mile journey to hover over Lori.
She said: “We were sitting talking when the drone appeared above my head. I thought it had caught a bird or some rubbish.”
But then David cut the ribbon, took out the ring and got down on one knee to propose.
Lori, an office worker with Postcode Plumbers in Gullane, said yes.
Lori, who is originally from Aberlady, told the Courier: “I was a bit shocked.”
David filmed the romantic moment on another camera.
He added: “I always muck about with gadgets and thought I’d tie it in with our engagement.”
The couple, who have two children – Freya, aged four, and two-year-old Daniel – live in Musselburgh.
