LONGNIDDRY mum Lynne Kemp may not know who Andrea Ranocchia is but a late goal by the Hull City footballer on Saturday helped her scoop more than £80,000 in a free-to-play game.

Lynne, 35, who works as a risk analyst, took part in the Sky Sports Super Six predictor game at the weekend, guessing the final scores for six games in the top two English divisions.

The weekly game sees winners split a £250,000 jackpot and Lynne, who is a Liverpool FC fan, had only been playing it for six weeks when her predictions came true. Andrea Ranocchia’s consolation goal for Hull in a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City proved crucial in the end for Lynne and two other winners, who predicted thecorrect scorelines and split the winnings.

Lynne was on her way back from a holiday on the Isle of Lewis when she learned of her win. She said: “I had three missed calls so I wanted to check my scores just in case.

“When I finally got a signal at 6pm I screamed when I saw that I’d won the jackpot. I woke my daughter up, who was sleeping in the back of the car. I just couldn’t believe that I had won.

“It was funny because we were actually cursing the fact we forgot to put a bet on the Grand National.”

Lynne revealed that she only started playing the game to challenge her husband Colin, who has been taking part for some time, and she admitted she did not know Ranocchia, the Hull defender.

She said: “I think people are surprised that I actually play the game, but I only really do it to beat Colin. I had absolutely no idea who [Ranocchia] was before this weekend – I think he’s my favourite player now!”

Now Lynne plans to take Colin and the couple’s two young children on a trip to her beloved Liverpool to see a game. She said: “We lived there for 10 years and are big fans but we haven’t been for years.”

Lynne shared her winnings with Brian Rattle, 53, from Skelmersdale, and 41-year-old Stephen Conn from Armagh.

The winning scorelines for Saturday’s Super Six were: Manchester City 3-1 Hull City; Middlesbrough 0-0 Burnley; Stoke City 1-2 Liverpool; West Bromwich Albion 0-1 Southampton; West Ham United 1-0 Swansea City; Nottingham Forest 2-0 Huddersfield Town.
