A STRETCH of coast road, sealed off as police investigate the discovery of human remains, is expected to reopen tomorrow (Friday).

Police Scotland have said they hope to be able to open the A198, which is currently shut between Longniddry and Aberlady, "some time" during the day.

The road was closed after a cyclist made the grim discovery outside the entrance to Gosford House, on Sunday evening.

Part of the westbound lane and roadside were immediately covered with a tent and forensics teams have been on the scene since then.

Police said the road would remain closed until they were certain they had collected all relevant evidence from the site and the remains had been "carefully and sensitively" removed.
