BOXING star Josh Taylor made it nine wins out of nine as he stopped Warren Joubert at Meadowbank Arena this evening (Friday).

The Prestonpans fighter looked simply unstoppable as he regularly had the South African in trouble before the referee stepped in midway through round six to stop the contest.

Taylor, who was making the first defence of his Commonwealth Super Lightweight title, was cheered into the ring by a loud home crowd, who were expecting their man to continue the flawless start to his professional career.

If the first round was reasonably even, then Taylor stepped up the gears in round two. A savage set of blows in the corner had Joubert stagger from one corner to the other as the fans roared on encouragement.

Round three very much followed the same trend with Taylor enjoying plenty of success when he had his opponent up against the ropes.

There was a sign of things to come at the end of the fifth as well.

Joubert was looking increasingly wobbly as Taylor had him rocking in the final 15 seconds.

The bell saved 'The Warrior' on that occasion but Taylor wasted no time in round six.

A stunning left dropped Joubert to the canvas for the first time and, although he made it to his feet, his corner had the towel in hand and the referee called this one off.

Taylor's record remains stunningly impressive and it remains to be seen quite how far he can go in the professional boxing world.
