A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital after his car struck a wall in Pencaitland last night.
The driver of the Audio A4 had to be cut free from the vehicle after it ploughed into the wall on the main A6093 road through the village, near the junction with Lempockwells Road, around 8.25pm.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in which, they said, the driver suffered serious injuries.
Firefighters from Tranent and Haddington were called out to the accident and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man from the vehicle.
He was then taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
