HEROIN and cocaine have been found at an address in Tranent following a police search.

Community policing officers and East Lothian funded officers executed warrants at three addresses in Musselburgh and Tranent yesterday (Monday).

A quantity of Class A and B drugs, including heroin and cocaine, were subsequently recovered from an address at Coal Neuk Court in Tranent.

One man aged 40 was charged with drug-related offences and he will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Andrew Harborow of Musselburgh Police Station said: "As a result of concerns brought to our attention from local residents, officers in East Lothian executed search warrants at three addresses.

"We're only too aware of the profound impact drugs can have on communities and we will always act on information that is passed to us.

"I hope that it goes without saying that we work closely with our communities in order to address the crimes and issues that have the greatest impact.

"Local residents play a vital role in helping shape our policing priorities through continual engagement, such as the Your View Counts online survey, and I would urge residents to continue to work alongside us so we can improve the quality of life in your area.

"If you have any information relating to ongoing drug crime in your area then please contact us on 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
