POLICE are continuing to carry out speed checks at a number of county hotspots after a number of complaints.

Concerns about speeding were raised at the Haddington and Lammermuir community and police partnership (CAPP) meeting last month.

Constable Lynn Black said there had been “various different complaints” regarding the issue, ranging from Haddington and Athelstaneford to Bolton.

She said: “We’ve had various different complaints from residents on Bullet Loan, across in the Nungate, of vehicles using it as a rat run. It has speed bumps and it is a tight corner and I don’t know if it is youths or vans there.

“We’ve also had complaints about speed in Athelstaneford as well.”

Before the group’s summer break, the police officer identified speeding as one of the priorities to target over the coming months.

She told members one driver had been spotted doing more than 50 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone at Bolton.
