BATTLING youngster Jack Tait was determined to take on this year’s Big Fun Run to say thank you to hospital staff who have helped him cope with asthma.

Jack, who is just five years old, finished the 5k run in Edinburgh at a cracking pace, as he aimed to raise hundreds of pounds for Edinburgh’s Sick Kids hospital.

And mum Kayleigh said she was so proud as she struggled to keep up with her determined young son.

Jack, who lives with parents Kayleigh and Gary, and big sister Kayla, in Macmerry, joined the charity fun run in Edinburgh last weekend.

The youngster has been in and out of hospital since he was very young with his asthma and still attends regular appointments there.

Mum Kayleigh said: “Without everyone at Sick Kids I don’t know where we would be; they are always there for us and so supportive that we want to give something back.

“Jack was determined to take on the run and was full of energy on the day. I kept saying to him to slow down but he wanted to run all the way. I am very proud of him. He really did well.”

Jack has already raised nearly £350 for Edinburgh Sick Kids through his efforts at the fun run.

And he is still collecting donations. To support Jack and help him give back to the hospital, go to his fundraising page at justgiving.com/fundraising/Kayleigh-Jamie son-Tait1
