FORMER Musselburgh Grammar School pupil Gregor McWee, who is now a chief designer for Adidas, in Portland, USA, returned to his old school recently.

Gregor asked to come back and visit the CDT department where his inspiration to become a graphic designer was first initiated.

He spent all morning working with 40 pupils (ranging from S1-S6).

After a brief introduction and a demonstration, the pupils were set the task of designing a new running shoe. The only stipulation being was that it had to contain, of course, the famous Adidas three stripes.

Two winners were selected, Elizabeth Orr (S6) and Ethan Hill (S4), both of whom went home with a new pair of trainers, or sneakers as Gregor now says!

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves and found the experience very rewarding – especially that a boy from their home town could become an international designer with a worldwide brand leading company.
