Tranent singer Caitlyn Vanbeck has beaten off the competition to reach the next stage of X Factor.

The 18-year-old performed Andra Day's song Rise Up, which mentor Simon Cowell admitted was one of his all time favourite songs.

Judge Louis Walsh told her "you are my favourite singer, you were born to sing".

Simon Cowell told Caitlyn: "I don't think you are aware of how good you are.

"I don't want to give you a chair, I want to give you a sofa."

The teenager now faces one final hurdle if she is to reach the live shows - Judges' Houses.

Caitlyn flies out to Simon Cowell's Malibu home with five other hopefuls to audition in front of their mentor Cowell and Spice Girls Mel B and Emma Bunton.

And she has her fingers crossed they will give her the thumbs up and put her through as one of Cowell's final three.

Caitlyn won a final six place alongside fellow Scots contestant Emily Middlemass in the girls' category.

Only three of the final six can be put through to the live shows by Cowell.

Earlier this week Caitlyn described taking part in the Six Chair Challenge as like 'The Hunger Games".

The brutal elimination round sees competitors battling for a seat which can be taken away at any time if a rival outperforms them.

This year Cowell filled his six seats quickly with Caitlyn taking the sixth seat.

She then faced a tense wait as others tried to win her seat from her, but while other girls found themselves being swapped, Caitlyn held her place to make the final six.
