POLICE are warning residents to be vigilant after a suspected bogus caller incident in Macmerry on Wednesday.
The incident happened around 4.40pm in Whiteloch Road when a man tried to open the front door of a house.
Officers are now advising residents in the area to be on their guard against anyone trying to gain access to their property.
The suspect is described as being Eastern European, with sallow skin and slim built. He was around 5-foot 5-inches tall.
He was wearing a black beanie hat, blue gilet with a grey long-sleeved top underneath, dark-coloured trousers and blue shoes with white soles.
He was carrying a large shoulder bag with a maroon strap.
He was seen to leave the area in a black CLK-style Mercedes car.
Police Constable Chris Hutchison said: "We would caution all residents to be on their guard when someone turns up at their door unannounced.
"If you have any doubts keep them outside and contact police immediately."
