THE MOTHER of one of the musicians taking part in this year's Lammermuir Festival was knocked down as she pushed her seven-month-old grandchild in a buggy, in Haddington, on Saturday morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident outside The Avenues, on Lodge Street, at the weekend.

The victim, who was in Haddington helping to look after the youngster while her parents performed in the festival, suffered minor injuries and was left badly shaken after the vehicle reversed into her.

Her granddaughter escaped injury despite the pushchair falling onto its side during the incident.

Witnesses said the driver stopped briefly but left without leave any personal details.

The incident was later reported to the police.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police in East Lothian received a report of road traffic collision on Lodge Street, Haddington on Saturday around 10 am where a pedestrian pushing a buggy received minor injuries.

"Inquiries are on going into the full circumstances. Anyone with information is asked to contact local officers or call 101."
