TRANENT singer Caitlyn Vanbeck stormed through the X Factor bootcamp with a performance described by head judge Simon Cowell as 'seriously outstanding'.

The 18-year-old former Ross High School pupil was nervous about taking to the stage after picking Avicii song Wake Me Up from the newly-introduced Wall of Songs and finding herself teamed up with boyband No Getaway and fellow singer Christopher Peyton.

However Christopher, 46, encouraged Caitlyn that everything would be okay as the three acts prepared to be the first onstage to audition before Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.

Cowell told Caitlyn: “You were outstanding, seriously outstanding.”

And Sharon told Cowell afterwards: “Caitlyn is really strong and confident.”

This year 121 acts reached Bootcamp where they were confronted with a wall which had songs pinned to it that they could pick for their audition.

They were then teamed up with two other acts who chose the same song to take to the stage together.

Caitlyn chose the Avicci song saying she had grabbed the first one she saw that she knew the words too.

However, she became tearful as the pressure of performing the song took its toll.

She said: “The pressure to live up to my first audition is really stressful.”

Her performance at Bootcamp was good enough to convince the judges she deserved to go through to the next round.

Caitlyn will now face the Six Chair Challenge and hope to go one stage further than last year when she was eliminated during the tough battle.

Last year she had to convince girls' mentor Cheryl she had what it takes, this year it will be Simon who mentors the girls.
