PRIZES for a raffle in aid of a cancer charity have been stolen during a break-in to a Haddington business.

The incident happened sometime overnight between Wednesday and Thursday at the Short Cuts hairdressers off Market Street.

After entry was forced to the building, a number of items were stolen from within, including raffle prizes in aid of raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Scott Nicolson from Haddington Police Station said: "The management and staff the hairdressers are obviously deeply disappointed that goods which were intended to be used as raffle prizes for charity were stolen during this break-in.

"As part of our ongoing inquiries we would ask that anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious on Market Street on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning contacts police immediately.

"Similarly, anyone with information that can help us identify those responsible should also get in touch."

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
