THE Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland will officially visit East Lothian for the first time in a decade later this month.
The Rt Rev Dr Russell Barr will spend five days in the county and could even take to the sky above to see East Lothian.
The grandfather-of-three will hear of church work with families, meet P7 pupils and visit Torness Power Station.
If the weather holds up, he, alongside wife Margaret, could take their first flights in a microlight from East Fortune.
It is ten years since a Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland last made an official visit to the Presbytery and this year’s programme – from September 25 to October 2 – includes a pilgrimage-themed walk and demonstration of horse-riding therapy.
Keen golfers, Dr and Mrs Barr will play at a local club and also visit the Church's CrossReach counselling service.
