A WOMAN who allegedly dumped a trampoline in the common area by her flat and left used syringes there has been handed an interim anti-social behaviour order (ASBO).

East Lothian Council has been granted an interim ASBO against 39-year-old Wendy Nisbet, of Fowlers Court, Prestonpans.

Ms Nisbet has been known to the council’s Safer Communities team since 2009 and, despite having received a number of warnings, Ms Nisbet allegedly continued to behave in an anti-social fashion.

The claims against her included: shouting and arguing within her flat at various times of the day and night; playing loud music late at night; leaving rubbish in and around the property; leaving the common stair dirty and damaged; leaving used syringes in the drain by the common stair door; and dumping a trampoline in the common area at Fowler’s Court.

Interim ASBOs are used to protect members of the public from an individual’s behaviour while the legal proceedings are progressing. The interim order was granted at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and will remain in force until a further court hearing is held to determine whether a full ASBO is appropriate.

East Lothian Council’s Safer Communities team worked closely with Police Scotland to compile the dossier of evidence that was used in court.

A council spokesperson said: “Ms Nisbet’s actions had an extremely negative impact on her neighbours over a prolonged period of time. We decided to pursue an ASBO against her to end the alarm and distress her actions were causing.”
