A WALLYFORD man who goaded a group of men while brandishing a knife has been placed on supervision.
Reece Watt, of Wemyss Gardens, approached a gang of about 20 males brandishing the blade in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.
The 21-year-old ran at the large group, shouting “come on then f***ing s****bags, you think you are hard?” before leaving the scene.
Last month, Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard that Watt had tucked a large 10-inch kitchen knife into his waistband before approaching the men.
Police received a number of calls from concerned residents and the Wallyford resident was eventually picked up by officers and taken to Dalkeith Police Station.
A subsequent search of his home was carried out last August and the knife was found in a kitchen drawer.
Sentence had been deferred for reports after Watt admitted to an amended charge of conducting himself in a disorderly manner.
And last Tuesday, Sheriff Gordon Liddle sentenced him to 18 months of supervision and to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
Watt pleaded guilty to conducting himself in a disorderly manner by running towards a group or persons unknown, brandishing a knife at them and shouting at them while holding the knife at Burnbrae Road, Bonnyrigg, on August 28 last year.
