A PRESTONPANS man is facing a jail sentence after admitting abducting two women.

Shaun Moffat, 27, and fellow accused Lewis Anderson, of Carberry Court, Whitecraig, appeared on trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month accused of terrorising two women.

Original charges claimed both accused brandished a knife at the women, refused to let them leave the property and detained them against their will at Prestonpans High Street.

It was also said that both men carried out the alleged attack with the intention of robbing the women of cash.

But when the case called for trial at the city court, the Crown accepted 24-year-old Anderson’s not guilty plea.

But Moffat, of Andermatt House, Mid Road, Prestonpans, did admit to a heavily amended charge of abducting the women, placing them in a state of fear and alarm and detaining them against their will at the Prestonpans flat on September 4 last year.

Moffat will return to court to be sentenced on July 28.
