A NORTH Berwick business celebrated a huge haul of awards at this year's Royal Highland Show.

Alandas Gelateria, on Quality Street, claimed a gold medal for its ice-cream for the second year running, much to the delight of bosses at the shop.

Valentina Black, one of the directors, told the Courier: "We are absolutely delighted that we've managed to achieve the gold award for our ice-cream for the second year running."

The North Berwick business also returned home with a remarkable nine silver and two bronze medals from the Highland Show at Ingliston, in Edinburgh.

Valentina added: "We work extremely hard to ensure our ice-cream is always of the highest standard, and source all our ingredients locally.

"We are so happy that we have been recognised once again."

The awards now take pride of place in the shop, which is in the town's former tourist information centre, and opened its doors little over two years ago.

Valentina was thrilled with their collection of awards, but also praised East Lothian produce.

She said: "I think it really justifies the fact that East Lothian truly does provide some of the best produce around.

"You don't always need to travel as far as Edinburgh to find top products."

And she thanked everyone who has paid the shop a visit for their support.

"We'd like to thank our customers for their continued support and appreciation for our hard work," she said.
