A MUM and two young children had a lucky escape after the brakes of their car failed as they drove out of a school car park.
The family were coming out of Ormiston Primary School when the silver BMW slid backwards, crashing through the railings at the bottom of the area.
Images of the car balanced precariously on the wall which separates the school grounds from the B6371 were shared on social media as locals were warned to take care travelling into the village.
East Lothian Council said that transportation staff had been sent to the school over the weekend to assess the damage caused.
Neither the mum nor the children were hurt in the incident, which happened on Friday; however, they were said by witnesses to have been shaken by their ordeal.
