HUNDREDS of walkers have turned out to take part in an emotional Walk with Scott in memory of two of the fundraisers’ biggest supporters, who died within 10 days of each other this year.

Family and friends of fellow 'Scotters' Ian Stevenson and Kenny Gray took part in the 20-mile walk, along with founder Scott Glynn, raising more than £10,000.

Ian and Kenny were both members of a dedicated group of walkers who joined every walk organised by Tranent's Mr Glynn, and became know as part of his family of 'Scotters'.

Previous Walk with Scott events have raised £125,000 over the last three years for charity.

Sadly, Ian died on New Year’s Day, followed by Kenny on January 11. Both men were 50 and suffered sudden heart attacks.

The walk in their memory on Saturday was well supported and joined for at least part of the way by Kenny’s best friend John Bathgate, who – despite relying on a portable oxygen machine – was determined to have a presence.

Local businesses also supported the walkers in their trek through East Lothian, with Rbg Fruits in Macmerry handing out free oranges and water refills to the passing group.

They were able to stop off for a refreshing drink at The Gothenburg, in Prestonpans, on the final leg.

Scott said: “It was an absolutely fantastic day and emotional as well.

"There was a good turnout from the families of both Ian and Kenny and the weather was good for the first half of the walk.

“Everyone was really supportive.

"We thought it might raise a few hundred pounds but we’ve broken the £10,000 mark with sponsorship and donations. It's amazing.”

Money raised on the memorial walk will be split between two charities – Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, and Crohn’s Disease.
