POLICE are appealing for witnesses after four "theft related incidents" in Musselburgh on Tuesday evening.

The incidents took place between 8pm and 10pm in the Eskside West, Lochend Road South and Newhailes area of the town.

Two men were seen getting out of a green Ford Focus and approaching a parked motorcycle.

Both men attempted to steal the motorcycle but failed and then made off on foot, westwards towards the Brunton Hall.

Around 9pm, a taxi window was smashed at Lochend Road South where a quantity of items, including cash, a holdall and clothing was taken.

After that, a black hybrid bicycle was taken from a bike rack in Newhailes.

Garage lock-ups in the Newhailes area were then forcibly entered at about 9.30pm but nothing was taken.

The suspects were both white, late teens and wearing all black clothing.

PC Lucy Langford, of Musselburgh Police Station, said: "We're appealing for any witnesses to come forward and are particularly eager to trace a female who was walking her dogs near the Newhailes area who alerted officers to the incident and two males who gave chase after one of the males."

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
