COCKENZIE and Port Seton Gala Queen Annaliese Mack will be crowned by her great grandparents this year, before heading out to sea on the family’s boat.

Annaliese comes from a family with strong links to the fishing industry in Port Seton.

Dad Daniel runs family business Neptune’s Larder at the harbour, while grandfather Andrew supplies it with fresh catches from his langoustine trawler.

And his vessel The Tern will be the Queen’s Barge in this year’s gala when the royal court takes to the sea for the traditional voyage between Cockenzie and Port Seton harbours.

Great grandparents Charlie and Margaret Mack will also take part in this year’s gala after being invited to crown Queen Annaliese on the day.

Charlie, 98, and Margaret, 94, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last year and have nine great grandchildren.

The couple, of Thomson Crescent, met when Margaret was working for her brother John Thomson’s fishmongers as a fish filleter.

Daniel said the whole family was looking forward to playing their role in the gala, which is on Saturday, June 4.
