THE whole eastbound carriageway of the A1 between Wallyford and Tranent will be closed for over two days from tomorrow evening (Friday).

Work to improve the road surface is taking place from 8pm tomorrow (Friday) until 6am on Monday, with the entire eastbound carriageway closed during this period.

A contraflow will be in place on the westbound carriagway for the duration of the roadworks, which are taking place between the Wallyford and Dolphingstone junctions (points A and B respectively in the below map).

The works, which are valued at £470,000, have been planned in consultation with Police Scotland and East Lothian Council.

Amey, which manages the road, says the work will benefit about 37,000 vehicles that use this section of the A1 each day by "ensuring road users experience greater journey time reliability, continued safety and comfort".
