MUSICIAN and actress Barbara Dickson is among the attractions at a special fundraiser for North Berwick respite care home Leuchie House.

Hops in the Garden – a music and ale festival – is held in the grounds of the Walled Garden at Archerfield on July 9.

More than half a dozen bands will take to the stage to provide a full day of jazz, folk, rock and roll, soul, Scottish and swing music.

Among those taking to the stage are the Prov Johnstone Band, Esk Valley Swing Band, Fayne and the Cruisers, UP, Spatz and Co, the North Berwick Pipe Band, Caitlin Bruce, Ron Shaw, Leonheart and, for the younger audience, Mr Boom.

Simon Paterson Brown, a surgeon at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and a member of the Prov Johnstone Band, was looking forward to the event.

He told the Courier the band performed charity events on a yearly basis and he had been inspired by Leuchie House.

He said: “It is an independent charity that needs money and needs awareness so other people can do something for them as well.”

Mr Paterson Brown added the musicians were giving up their time, with all proceeds going towards the charity.

As well as music, there will be Strictly Come Dancing-style competitions, music for the youngsters and plenty of entertainment at the event, which runs from 11am to 11pm.

Early bird tickets are £10 per adult, with under-18s going free.
