A GALA dating back more than 40 years will once again take place.
West Barns Gala, which takes place on the first Saturday in June, has been a regular event in the village since 1973.
But fears were raised earlier this month that the event could be cancelled due to the lack of a secretary but the position has now been filled.
Cathy West, chairwoman of the West Barns Gala committee, said: “We have done really well and we have managed to get ourselves a secretary.
“She saw the note in the Courier and thought she would give me a ring."
Plans are now being drawn up for the gala – which has only been cancelled twice, in 2003 and 2011 – with a committee meeting pencilled in for March 7 in the village hall.
Mrs West encouraged members of the public to come along on the evening, with the meeting starting at 7pm.
Next month, a bingo night will be held when the Gala Queen is expected to be announced.
