INVESTIGATIONS are under way after a train was forced to stop near Dunbar on Saturday evening.
Passengers were travelling on the 1.25pm Plymouth to Edinburgh service when the passenger alarm was activated at about 9.50pm.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “It is believed that the alarm was activated by a group of around 12 men who subsequently left the train at Dunbar. No other offences were reported and the men involved have not been traced at this time.”
A passenger got in touch with the Courier and said the train stopped a few miles east of Dunbar for about 15 minutes.
He said: “I got off the train at Dunbar and saw the loud and boisterous group heading off into Dunbar while the train conductor was on the phone to the police reporting the incident.
“I heard the conductor saying that he had taken photos of the group with his phone.”
