A SCHOOLBOY has been taken to hospital after he was struck by a car on Tranent High Street during morning rush hour.
The 15-year-old was struck by a silver Renault Scenic at the junction with Winton Place, shortly after 8.30am.
Police were called to the scene along with paramedics.
It is understood the teenager was taken to Edinburgh Royal infirmary but was not believed to be seriosuly injured.
Traffic in the High Street ground to a halt following the accident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a call around 8.30am following reports of a collision on the High Street, Tranent.
"As a result a 15-year-old boy was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as a precaution."
