POLICE are hunting a group of revellers who caused £30,000 worth of damage to properties at an upmarket housing development after breaking in and holding a party.

Two unoccupied properties at the Bank Park House site at Tranent were taken over by the vandals during a weekend last month and used for the unauthorised party.

The homes, which are part of the prestigious Bankpark Grange gated development, by Jemma James, off Edinburgh Road, Tranent, are believed to have been targeted by a gang of up to a dozen unidentified revellers who forced entry before rampaging through the two properties.

Police said that the party, which was held on Saturday, December 12, in the two houses, caused extensive damage to the properties and they are still seeking those involved.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are aware of reports relating to youth problems at properties under construction within Bank Park House, Edinburgh Road, Tranent.

“We are liaising with our appropriate partners to identify those responsible and deter similar incidents of this nature.”

The Bankpark Grange development brochure describes it as an exclusive site with 11 four-bedroom luxury detached houses, offered at a starting price of £425,000, set on the banks of the historic Bank Park mansion location.

The properties in the development boast spa baths, under-floor heating systems and hardwood flooring throughout the downstairs.

The developers declined to comment on the incident.
