SNOW and more strong winds are forecast for East Lothian this evening and tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued yellow 'be aware' warnings of snow and wind for the county, both covering the period from 6pm tonight (Friday) to 6pm tomorrow (Saturday).

Frequent wintry showers, heavy at times, are expected during Saturday, but they are expected to be localised, with about 2-5 cm possible, and primarily falling on higher ground.

Widespread gales are also expected, but not as strong as those experienced this morning, though drifting snow is possible where snowfall is heavier.

Road surface temperatures are expected to fall below freezing Friday night into Saturday morning, bringing some icy patches.

Residents are urged to be aware of difficult driving conditions and localised disruption to travel, the Met Office says.

There is a further yellow warning of strong winds for the whole of Monday.
