PUPILS from Cockenzie Primary School recorded a play for radio on Monday after they were approached by the author.
Rita Bradd brought The Three Craws to the school and invited P4 pupils to narrate the tale for the airwaves.
Read by the pupils, the play was recorded by East Coast FM and is due to be played on air today (Thursday), between 8am and 9am.
Janey Nicol, P4 teacher, said the children had been working hard at rehearsing the short play.
Mrs Nicol said: “We were asked by Rita Bradd to have some of the children narrate the play and everyone has worked at rehearsing and preparing for their performance.
“We are delighted to be involved.”
Ian Robertson, from East Coast FM, said: “The characters were played very well and it is a good fun story of ‘The Bairn in the Manger’.
“It will be aired again before Christmas but it's not scheduled yet.”
Mr Robertson also praised the youngsters for their singing. He added: “The youngsters did an amazing job on The Three Craws.
“I’ve had the benefit of hearing adults perform it but these P4 guys were great. They also sang three carols which will also be aired at some point – this was not scheduled and was spontaneous. True professionals!"
