DETAILS of this year’s Hogmanay celebrations in Musselburgh have been revealed, with plans for another fun-packed family day at The Brunton and party night to welcome in 2016.

Ticketed events will run from 11am to 5pm on Thursday, December 31, and there will also be a free lantern parade in the early evening and free fireworks display at Fisherrow Links.

Among the paid-for events on the day will be a family ceilidh, drumming workshops from Edinburgh Samba School, storytelling and songs from Sonsie Music, performances from the Yugen Puppet Theatre, face painting and crafts.

In the evening, events start at The Brunton at 7pm when the lantern parade sets off, led by the Edinburgh Samba Band, heading for the fireworks show at Fisherrow.

Hogmanay Celebrations in the Honest Toun are delivered by East Lothian Council and The Brunton and are part of Scotland’s Winter Festivals – a programme of events funded by the Scottish Government and managed by VisitScotland.

Councillor Tim Day, spokesperson for community wellbeing at East Lothian Council: “This is the fourth year we have run this event with the support of Scotland’s Winter Festivals. Our focus is on fun for all the family, and there is a real buzz in Musselburgh all day as a result.

“This year we are delighted to be teaming up with Musselburgh Riding of the Marches 2016 to present Hogmania!, an evening ceilidh for all the family to see in the New Year, as well as our family afternoon ceilidh.”
